The UN Human Rights and its Representation Office to the European Union (ROEU) and the European Public Health Alliance (EPHA), through its DisQo Stakeholder Network on Anti-Discrimination and Health Equity are pleased to invite you to two events:
1) The 4th annual Seminar on Racism and Health
This year, the Seminar will zoom into gender-based violence in the health sector and take place on 8 October. It will aim:
- To raise awareness of gender-based discrimination and gender-based violence in healthcare as a public health and health equity issue;
- To explore how discrimination and structural inequalities shape racialized women’s experiences of healthcare, zooming into obstetric violence;
- To discuss trauma-informed, gender-sensitive, and anti-discriminatory approaches to healthcare;
- To identify policy and advocacy solutions for the implementation of the EU Anti-Racism Strategy 2026–2030.
The Seminar will have twofold dynamics, featuring presentations of studies and thematic discussions. Please come prepared to participate and let your voice be heard on these critical topics.

2) Consultation: Sports, Ageing and Racial Discrimination – Implications for the Right to Health
Our second event, on 9 October, is a consultation on Sports, Ageing and Racial Discrimination – Implications for the Right to Health.
The consultation will explore how racial discrimination affects participation in sport across the life course, with a particular focus on:
- The experiences of racialized older persons in sport in the EU and their implications for the right to health;
- The systemic barriers and challenges within sport that hinder the participation of racialized older persons in the EU; and
- The relevance and impact of intergenerational experiences of discrimination and inclusion in sport.
The consultation will also contribute to developing recommendations on how EU initiatives on anti-racism, sport and healthy ageing – including the 2027 European Week of Sport – can better address the intersection of ageism and racial discrimination, and its impact on the enjoyment of human rights by racialized older persons.
It will also feed into the 2027 High Commissioner for Human Rights report on sport and racism.
