The Representation Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) focuses on placing human rights at the core of the European Union's internal and external action, securing the EU-OHCHR partnership and ensuring that the overall human rights system is supported.
We raise awareness about the work of the Office including its 80+ field presences, the independent mandate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, United Nations human rights mechanisms and their recommendations, and contribute to the strengthening of the United Nations human rights pillar.
We develop and nurture relations, partnerships, and networks with all levels of EU institutions, regional organizations, rights-holders, NGOs, civil society, businesses and local actors, and academic institutions.
We carry out advocacy, provide policy guidance and mainstream international human rights norms and standards across EU legislation, policies, programmes and budgets with focus on safeguarding civic space, supporting the anti-racism agenda and addressing inequalities, advocating for human rights-based migration governance, and integrating human rights in business conduct, the digital sphere and in the environment.
